About the Site

Who the hell are you?
Hmm, let's see. Male. Living in Philadelphia, though I will have relocated to New York City by 2008. I love movies, British humor, Philly sports, and long walks on the beach.

Are you single?
Hey, I said frequently asked questions.

What are your favorite movies?
Why must you ask such idiotic questions. The list changes all the time, of course; I usually don't even know what the question means, because many of the movies I like the most aren't ones I would consider tremendous cinema. But combining the two criteria, it's a pretty safe bet that these puppies would be on any list I would ever compile, in no particular order: The Lord of the Rings, Gallipoli, The Truman Show, Mulholland Dr., Dr. Strangelove, 12 Angry Men, Carrie, Gone With the Wind, Fearless, Duel, Unbreakable, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Godfather Part II.

Who are your favorite actors?
A similarly idiotic question, but here's an off-the-top-of-my-head list: Anthony Hopkins, Jeff Bridges, Paul Newman, Eugene Levy, Jack Lemmon, Helen Hunt, Meryl Streep (obviously), Bruce Willis (lately), Jennifer Jason Leigh, and, pending further confirmation, Haley Joel Osment Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I'll add to this list as more people come to mind.

Why do you do this?
Because people seem to like it and read it. And I usually feel like I have something to say.

What is your political affiliation?
As some of my reviews probably make it clear, I lean strongly to the left and often let that influence my opinion of politically-minded movies, such as The Contender. Deal. It is only hacks who ignore their personal biases when forming their cinematic tastes.

How could you not like Movie X? Justify your existence!
This is by far the message I receive the most often. I love when people e-mail me with intelligent arguments, but if all you want to do is spout incoherent obscenities in my general direction, keep it to yourself. These are just movies and I'm just one guy, and not Roger Ebert, either. It's not the end of the world.

What else do you want to tell me?
Not much. Is there anything else you want to know?
